Escape from the Amethyst Fortress in Hearthstone: New Expansion, July 2026
“Escape from Amethyst Fortress” is Hearthstone's second expansion of 2026. It centers on the escape of Vanessa van Cleef and other notorious criminals from Amethyst Fortress prison. Along with the new set, Blizzard has added 135 cards, new mechanics, and fresh archetypes for all classes.
New Mechanics in Amethyst Fortress
“Escape from Amethyst Keep” introduces several mechanics united by the common theme of breaking the rules. Many cards allow you to do things that were previously impossible in the game.
Key New Features:
- Preparation is a new keyword. Preparation empowers a card or triggers an additional effect after a specified condition is met.
- Rulebreakers—new legendary creatures that alter the game’s basic rules. For example, they allow you to have two identical legendary cards in your deck, use a hero’s second ability, or draw extra cards each turn.
- Cards that switch sides to the opponent. Some creatures intentionally appear on the opponent’s side after being played, opening up new possibilities for tactics and combos.
