Baba (Busya) in Deadlock steals her opponents’ spiritual energy, boosts her shots, and turns enemies into pigeons. Her abilities allow her to chase down targets, protect allies, and prevent opponents from using their skills. In this guide, we’ll break down how to play as Baba in Deadlock, which items to buy, and what to level up first.

Baba releases a thread that follows her crosshairs and then explodes along its path. Enemies hit by the explosion take spirit damage and lose some of their spirit. The stolen spirit power strengthens Baba, and her bullets begin to deal additional spirit damage.
Upgrades:
If possible, hit multiple enemies with the thread and keep firing while the buff is active. It’s especially effective against heroes whose damage depends on spirit—such as Infernus, Shiva, and Seven.
The bench legs extend: Granny moves faster, jumps higher, and gains resistance to negative effects and melee damage. The ability lasts 10 seconds.
A normal melee attack knocks the enemy back. A heavy attack strikes the ground, knocking enemies into the air, slowing them, and dealing spiritual damage. To perform a high jump, hold down Ctrl, then release the button.
Upgrades:
Use this ability to reach high ground, pursue enemies, and retreat. Attacks can be parried, so avoid predictable attack patterns.
Baba brews tea and throws it at a selected area. The effect changes while brewing:
Upgrades:
Prepare the right option in advance: the barrier is useful for defense, silence is effective against dangerous abilities, and the scalding tea is for dealing damage.
The old woman showers enemies in front of her with bread, gradually increasing the slow effect. Once the ability ends, pigeons attack targets, dealing spiritual damage and temporarily turning enemies into birds. The more bread a target receives, the higher the damage and the longer the transformation lasts.
It takes 3.5 seconds to fully charge the effect. The base duration of the transformation is 2.75 seconds.
Upgrades:
Combine your ultimate with Granny Long Legs: the extra speed helps keep enemies in front of you and build up the effect.
Players are still testing builds for the new hero. Below are two published options with a focus on Threadsap. The items listed for each stage are a plan for purchases and upgrades, so there’s no need to save all the cheap items until the end of the match.

| Early Game | Extra Charges, Spirit Strike, Quick Shot |
| Recovery and Movement | Radiant Recovery, Healing Amplifier, Speed Endurance, Spirit Health Steal |
| Core Purchases | Spiritual Steal, Haste Charges, Boundless Spirituality, Growing Effect |
| Further Enhancements | Spiritual Rift, Spiritual Overflow, Enhanced Expansion |
| Late Game | Superior Ability Cooldown, Superior Duration, Bloodthirst, Spirit Burn |
| Stage | Items |
| Early Game | Additional Regeneration, Rapid Fire, Quick Shot, Mystical Regeneration |
| Build Progression | Extra Rounds, Mercury Reload, Radiant Recovery, Healing Amplifier |

Both builds include item swaps tailored to specific opponents:
For the builds above, prioritize Threadsap. The first upgrade boosts bullets, the second lets you use the thread more often and maintain its effect longer, and the last adds a charge and a pull effect.
Develop the remaining abilities based on your playstyle:
This is a guideline for your first few matches, not the only mandatory build.
On the lane, land Threadsap and use empowered shots to trade blows. Don’t spend all your time chasing enemies: finishing off fighters and collecting souls are necessary for timely item purchases.
Before a fight, prepare the right version of Baba’s Brew. Scorching Tea is good for attacking, while Silence is best against heroes with dangerous abilities. If an ally is under fire, use the barrier.
In team fights, combine slow, knock-up, and the pigeon transformation. Try to extend crowd control with consecutive uses so your allies have time to deal damage. Also, save Granny Long Legs for retreat if engaging in close combat is dangerous.
Against Granny, consider Vazkus, Vindicator, and Whip. Based on early match data, they’re on the list of troublesome opponents, but stats for the new hero are still being compiled.
