Travelers can earn plenty of rewards by exploring the House of the Hesperides in Xue’s side quests in Genshin Impact. We’ve already covered the Guest of Honor Hall puzzle, and now we’ll tackle the search for the five paintings—another secret quest not mentioned during these main story missions. In this guide, we’ll break down how to find the five paintings and what rewards you’ll get for them.
To find the first painting, head to the main hall.

Break open the matryoshka doll standing near the ice golem. Take the key and free the second ice golem—it’s behind the door on the left in the screenshot. Go inside and take the painting. You’ll also receive a treasure chest.

The second painting is a little further away, in the next hall.

To the right of the door is a staircase leading to the platform where Volgskaya and the ice giant are painting. Sit on the ice giant’s chair and wait until he finishes the portrait. You can then take the finished painting.

Climb the stairs to the room where you started the quest.

Rotate all the paintings in the room so they hang properly. Place an ice block under the fallen painting. The painting is located in a secret room with a cryocooler and a chest; you can take it from the easel.

You can obtain the next painting by completing the “House of the Soulless” quest in the “Hesperides of Love and Hate” quest chain. This secret room can only be accessed as part of the main storyline.

Arrange the ice sculptures roughly like this; then a cutscene will begin, and the path to the painting will open.

Take the fourth painting—it’s to the right of the sword statue.

If you didn’t collect the painting during the quest, teleport to the courtyard, enter the elevator, stop on the floor that was closed for renovations, and run straight to the balcony through which you first entered the room.

The fifth painting is in a separate bell tower. Teleport to the marked teleportation point.

Turn toward the street, walk forward, defeat Tsvetaeva, and take the chest. He’ll point you toward the fairy in the bell tower. Set up the chain mechanism to make it easier to reach the top.

At the top, break the structure on the floor and descend to the puzzle. Ring one of the bells to summon the fairy. Add a Cryo character with a fast ability cooldown to your party: Kei, Qi Qi with Starry Glow, and so on. You need to ring the second bell—and the moment the fairy flies past the elemental pedestal, you must quickly activate its Cryo effect with a strike.

On the next floor, ring the central bell, then the one on the right, and activate the right pedestal. Then summon the fairy back by ringing the central bell, and from there, head left.

On the bottom floor, you’ll need to time your actions carefully. Ring one of the bells on the left or right and run to the opposite wall. When the fairy is halfway there, ring the other bell. She’ll then pass through the center, and you’ll be able to activate the monument.

Solving this puzzle earns you the “For Whom the Bell Tolls” achievement, as well as two regular chests and one treasure chest. Grab the painting—it’s next to a regular chest.

Return to the main hall in the palace. You’ll notice that all five paintings are now in their rightful places. Go to the spot in the middle of the staircase and open the door.

Collect the luxurious chest, the precious chest, and two regular chests, as well as two chests containing Snow’s treasure. The “Through the Halls of Illusions” achievement will unlock: collect all the paintings in the House of the Hesperides and uncover the treasure hidden behind them.
