VALORANT has released Update 13.08, marking the start of Act 6 of the current season. The developers provided a report on penalties for rule-breakers in Act 5 and discussed new features, including a map ranking system to assess skill level with ratings ranging from C to S.
Player Penalties in Act 5
During the period when violators were identified in Act 5 (August 18 through October 1), we banned:
171,000+ cheaters;
54,000+ players for using bots;
76,000+ players for rank manipulation (including boosters, booster clients, teammates, participants in match-fixing, and others; exact figures are listed below);
74,000+ players for toxic behavior or violations in voice chat;
288,000+ players for repeated instances of inactivity or disrupting gameplay;
14,000+ players for using tools to “hunt” streamers and/or instantly select agents.
Agent Changes
Killjoy’s “Alarmbot” projectile destruction visual and audio effects will now trigger when the projectile is destroyed by moving doors.
Client Changes
New interface for selecting queues and modes during matchmaking and in “Custom Game” mode.
We’ve added a navigation bar to the “Career” section to make it easier for you to navigate to pages such as “Rank History,” “Achievements,” and “Map Rankings.”
Ranked Game Changes
Map Rating: It’s time to find out if your favorite map is the one where you play your best.
Map Rating evaluates changes in your skill level on a specific map on a scale from 0 to 500 and assigns a grade from C to S.
The rating is calculated based on four metrics: overall win rate, win rate as attacker, win rate as defender, and efficiency score.
Recent matches have a greater impact on your rating than older matches.
Improving any of these metrics can raise your map rating.
You can view your rating, statistics, and other data—such as top agents—on the agent selection and post-match screens, as well as in the “Career” section.
Other players cannot see your map rating information.
Map ratings are available in ranked matches and Premier mode.
Once the map rating is introduced, everyone starts with a clean slate: data from past matches will not be taken into account.
Performance Rating Update:
The Performance Score does an excellent job of more accurately reflecting the contributions of different agents and roles, without downplaying the importance of kills. Initially, the MVP of matches based on the effectiveness rating and ACS matched in about 70% of cases, which was in line with our expectations given the additional factors affecting the effectiveness rating. However, we noticed a few exceptional cases that made us realize we had overestimated the impact of these additional factors. To reduce the number of such cases, we made adjustments that took effect with the release of Update 13.06.
We increased the impact of damage, as well as adjusted kills and deaths, on the rating. The adjusted metrics include both first blood and first deaths.
We’ve also made changes related to Chamber so that his rating more accurately reflects his abilities.
Bug Fixes
Ranked Play:
Fixed a bug that caused the threshold required to reach “Mastery” to be displayed incorrectly.
Gameplay:
Fixed a bug that sometimes prevented alternate footstep sounds from playing when an agent was in the fog of war;
Fixed a bug that caused the sound of a body falling not to play in the correct location if the agent died in the fog of war;
Fixed a bug that caused weapon recoil sound effects to sometimes not play correctly.
Weapons:
Fixed a bug causing the Warden’s crosshair to be misaligned during automatic fire.
Known Issues
Ranked Match:
We are aware of a visual glitch causing the team MVP title to display incorrectly in match history. We are currently working on a fix.
Shooting Range and Matchmaking:
We are aware of a bug causing the matchmaking system to behave incorrectly when using the Shooting Range. We had to temporarily disable this feature. We are currently testing a fix and hope to implement it as soon as possible.
Players will also have access to a new Battle Pass featuring free rewards, as well as the “Solar Energy,” “Data Transfer,” and “Souvenir” collections. The POPMONZ set will be released on October 14.
Previously, nearly 300,000 accounts were banned over the past year. Offenders were banned for smurfing, boosting, and rating manipulation. The developers clarified that using an alternate profile is permitted if it is created and leveled up manually and is not used by other players.
