Burrito: “Actually, the Philippines’ poor performance on the international stage is a positive development.”

Victor Kolosov
Philippine commentator Burrito

Commentator Aaron Paul “Burrito” Gaddy appeared on the 8G podcast on the Wolf Casts YouTube channel, where he discussed the poor performance of Team Liquid PH and other Philippine clubs at the 2026 MLBB Mid Season Cup, as well as the wave of negative feedback from the community directed at Team Liquid PH’s gold laner, Teddyqt.

On the Philippine teams’ performance at the MSC 2026

Surprisingly, the dominant Team Liquid PH performed very poorly at the MLBB Mid Season Cup 2026. The team played two matches and finished with a 0–4 record. This is the worst result for the Philippine scene in its entire history.

In my opinion, the problem was that the Philippine teams failed to adapt properly to the changing meta. All the preparation fell on the coaches’ shoulders, and the players followed every instruction from them, including the wrong ones. Attempts were made to improve the situation, but they did not lead to a positive outcome, as teams from other regions were far better prepared.

On the Positive Side

In fact, the Philippines’ poor performance on the international stage is a positive development. Previously, competitions were considered mere formalities, with trophies awarded exclusively to Philippine teams. Now, other regions have gained confidence in their abilities, and the competition will become fiercer.

On the community’s unfair treatment of Teddyqt

I find it strange that the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang community has suddenly begun to look down on Teddyqt because of Team Liquid PH’s poor performance at the MLBB Mid Season Cup 2026. Teddyqt is a newcomer to the MPL; this is his first time playing at the highest level, and he’s bound to make some mistakes. Moreover, it’s important to understand that new players often become victims of poor coaching decisions and tend to get overly nervous.

Yes, Teddyqt won the MPL Philippines Season 17 championship and performed well in the qualifiers for the 2026 Asian Games, but he shouldn’t be compared to professionals like Kelra just yet. The Team Liquid PH holder doesn’t deserve toxic treatment from the community; his inexperience must be taken into account.

Earlier, Team Liquid PH players Sanford and Sanji spoke on the 8G podcast about the team’s coaching staff, noting the hard work of Aeon and SN4P, and named the roster’s roamer, Jaypee, one of the best professional players in his role.
