Ospreay on being eliminated from MCC Season 8: “We couldn’t handle the nerves and the pressure.”

Aurevia Team defeated Team Yandex in the lower bracket final of the MLBB Continental Championships Season 8—a tense series that ended with a score of 3-2. After the match, Team Yandex coach Vladimir “Ospreay” Gonchar answered questions from OFFSTAGE.

Hi! Let’s start with the main point: regardless of the result, you’ve already qualified for M8. Can we say that you’ve met your minimum goal for MCC Season 8?

I think we’ve met our minimum goal, but there’s still a lot to work on ahead of the international competitions.

Three weeks ago, you already faced Aurevia in the upper bracket of the playoffs. How did these two matches differ? Would you say your opponent managed to surprise you?

Overall, our opponent played and prepared specifically to counter our style, which put a certain amount of pressure on our team, and we weren’t able to fully handle it.

In your opinion, how much did the LAN atmosphere specifically influence today’s tournament? Did you feel that nerves were preventing you from performing at your best?

I think LAN is a really cool event, and in any case, you have to be ready for any situation and any atmosphere.

What initial conclusions can we draw from this series ahead of the wild card? How much can today’s games help with our preparation?

Our preparation, even for the LAN, went very well. It was more that we couldn’t handle the nerves and pressure ourselves. We’ve already played against several teams that will be in the wild card, and we think we can put up a good result.

Before M8, you have one more tournament coming up: Rise of Legends. Tell us how important it will be, considering that you might face future Wild Card opponents from FUT and Aurevia?

RoL will be a very interesting tournament, and it will serve as a good test against strong international teams.

In your opinion, how much might the meta change by the time of M8? And how different will the matches at M8 be from those at MCC overall?

We’re waiting for the upcoming patches to see where the meta goes. It’s too early to say.

Thanks for the interview! To wrap things up, feel free to address the fans or send a message to your friends.

Thank you to everyone who rooted for us and supported us—your support means a lot to us. We’d be happy if you continued to support us on the international stage!
