2027 will be the first year in Counter-Strike history without a Major in Europe
It was recently announced that both Majors in 2027 will be held outside of Europe.
According to announcements from tournament organizers, the first Major of 2027 will take place in Argentina (FiRe Major Buenos Aires 2027), and the second in China (Perfect World Shanghai Major 2027). This is the first time in Counter-Strike history—with the exception of 2020—that Europe will not host at least one developer-organized event within a 12-month period.
Earlier, analyst Duncan “Thorin” Shields criticized Valve’s decision to hold the second Major of 2027 in China and noted a likely decline in the tournament’s European viewership due to the time zone difference.
