Astralis CEO calc: “The team’s next coach will most likely not be Danish.”

Astralis CEO Jonas “calc” Gundersen, in an interview with pley.gg, assessed the team’s performance at the recent IEM Cologne Major 2026 and stated that the team’s next coach will not be Danish.
On the results at the IEM Cologne Major 2026
As the team’s new owners and management, we’re primarily focused on the process, stability, and further development of what we’re building. I think we performed pretty well. Of course, we could have played better, especially in the second stage of the tournament. I think we were certainly capable of advancing to the third stage, but we mustn’t forget that we’re still a new team. We’re still dealing with some inconsistency, and that’s to be expected. Nevertheless, I believe we’ve shown a pretty good level of play. The guys are working hard, and this is a long process that we need to keep working on and moving forward with.
On the team’s next coach
I think I can say that the team’s next coach will most likely not be Danish. We’re moving toward a more international staff. To a certain extent, the homogeneous Danish culture played a cruel trick on us. At times, we became victims of our own success and started to get complacent. That’s why we now want to move away from a model based exclusively on Danish culture and build a more international high-performance culture. At the same time, we intend to preserve our Scandinavian roots and the presence of Danes in the organization. I believe this will be a definite change from what we had before.
Earlier, Astralis management announced the departure of the CS2 team’s coach, Kasper “ruggah” Dew. He had been with the team since March 2024 and led them to second-place finishes at PGL Astana 2025 and PGL Bucharest 2026.
