Representatives of the esports community from various disciplines weighed in following the announcement of a new Counter-Strike 2 event by FISSURE.
Analyst James “BanKs” Banks commented on the announcement of the new event in Georgia:
I’m glad Georgia will be a new venue, but FISSURE must pay out all remaining funds to the CS and Dota 2 teams, players, and others before that happens.
Professional Dota 2 player Andreas “Cr1t-” Frank Nielsen addressed the tournament operator with a question:
Do you plan to pay us for the past tournaments you owe us for?
Team Liquid’s esports director, John “Tephus” Lewis, commented on the process of resolving financial issues as follows:
They’re working on paying off their debts in Dota 2 and CS. We’ll see if they succeed, but they’re making progress.
Earlier, the tournament operator FISSURE issued an official statement acknowledging outstanding prize money payments owed to 15 professional clubs in accordance with Valve’s rules on preventing conflicts of interest. Company co-owner Andrei Mikheev noted that, thanks to a partnership with the Chinese team GGMEDIA, payments for past tournaments have begun, and a significant portion of the debt is expected to be repaid before the start of the upcoming championship.
