Esports player Denis “electroNic” Sharipov spoke with HLTV about his future as a pro player, reflected on his work as an analyst for 1win Private Club #2, and assessed his personal conduct while playing for Virtus.pro.
I have no plans to end my playing career. There’s no point in rushing into anything—after the Major, there will be more opportunities on the transfer market. Right now, I’m trying to stay connected to Counter-Strike as an analyst because I love the game.
I’ve already received offers from teams. I can’t disclose any details. Let’s just say that at one point, some organizations were interested in me, but nothing came of it. Now I need to move on.
Talking about CS has never been a burden for me, so working in an analytics studio sounds interesting. Of course, I wouldn’t want to dive right in headfirst right now, but overall, I enjoy discussing and analyzing Counter-Strike.
If the opportunity arises to become a commentator and I’m not with an organization, I wouldn’t mind trying out a new role. It’s a new experience. You watch teams play and pick up on their habits, study the meta, and learn how esports players think.
For me, that period was my first experience working with very young players who needed to be taught all the basics of Counter-Strike. My ambitions at Virtus.pro were too high, so I behaved aggressively. However, over time, it became clear that such behavior was completely unacceptable. You can’t act that way—it can affect both the players’ state of mind and your relationships outside the server. I would definitely act differently if I could go back to that time now.
Earlier, commentator Chad “SPUNJ” Burchill spoke on the HLTV Confirmed podcast about FISSURE’s delayed payments and the working conditions for players at its events, and also discussed the problems facing this tournament operator.
