huNter- on HeavyGod: “Right now, he’s definitely the best anchor on the pro scene.”

G2 Esports captain Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač, in a podcast on the ESL Counter-Strike YouTube channel, reflected on playing with Guy “NertZ” Ilyuz and Nikita “HeavyGod” Martynenko, assessed his personal progress as captain, and discussed his team’s main challenge.
About NertZ
He has a great understanding of the game. On the attack, NertZ often calls out what he wants to do, and I try to adapt to him. He also calls a lot on defense, especially on Inferno and Mirage. Thanks to his help, I can focus on my aim and, as a result, get more frags.
On HeavyGod
I’m really glad HeavyGod is playing on our team. I think right now, he’s definitely the best anchor on the pro scene. Nikita can fill any role. He’s capable of being both an entry fragger and a lurker in any part of the map. He can handle just about anything. He’s damn good at this game.
On my progress as captain
I’m gradually growing as a captain. Yes, I have a lot of experience playing as a regular rifler, but being an in-game leader is something else entirely. I enjoy this role. It’s a shame I didn’t become captain sooner... I guess there’s no point in dwelling on missed opportunities now. I don’t regret anything at this point.
On G2 Esports’ main problem
Sometimes we overcomplicate things. We think our opponents are too smart and will figure out our game. So we might suddenly change it up. In those moments, our confidence suddenly wavers. We end up having to do things we haven’t practiced. I think that’s exactly where our main problem lies. In any case, I feel like we’re on the right track right now. We just need to stay patient and keep believing in each other.
Earlier in the podcast, Maximiliano “max” Gonzalez assessed 9z Team’s progress this year and also talked about working with coach Bruno “BIT” Fukuda Lima and their victory over Team Vitality in the third-stage match of the IEM Cologne Major 2026.
