Astini commented on Matthew’s statement regarding the state of the South American Dota 2 scene

Former Team Nemesis and PARIVISION coach Filipe “Astini” Astini Ribeiro commented on Farit “Matthew” Puente’s statement regarding the state of the South American Dota 2 region.

I remember sending this message to a friend while I was competing in the EWC qualifiers [Astini attached a screenshot of the conversation, in which he claims that participants in the closed qualifiers for the Esports World Cup 2026 were streaming the matches to third parties, and suggests that 4nalog was the only honest midlaner in those regional qualifiers. — Ed. note].

Matthew talks about match-fixing, but the new trend is when a match-fixer uses cheats. This hadn’t happened before during his career. After observing the teams, he concluded that the only team without match-fixers was Nemesis—I was on that team at the time. I came to the same conclusion (PlayTime and LGD weren’t in the EWC qualifiers, and it later came to light that they had match-fixers).

Matthew is the guy with the best reputation in South America, without a shadow of a doubt. He gains nothing by saying this. He’s only putting himself at risk by getting involved in a confrontation with the mafia. I get involved in arguments; I know some people question my reputation because of it. But that’s only because I’m someone who hates injustice and meanness. Over time, this becomes clear.

When my “conspiracy theories” turn into reality.

“To help you understand the situation we’re in, the conclusion is this: South America is beyond redemption, and it’s actually better for our active players to pursue their careers in Europe, because South America is doomed—it’s so deeply mired in this that it’s impossible to pull it out,” Matthew said earlier.
