During a Twitch stream, streamer Anton “dyrachyo” Shkredov discussed how knowing English could have changed Danil “gpk” Skutin’s career.
dyrachyo: If gpk knew English, he’d have incredible opportunities. He’d land on some top-tier roster and just shine. But because of this little oversight—let’s put it that way—Danil’s reluctance to learn English—he did try for a while—he’s slightly limited to playing with ruiners. He could have been in Malr1ne’s place. It would have been the era of the Falcons, and he would have won TI.
The global scene could have changed dramatically if Danil could have said something more than just “Hello, I’m Danil.”
gpk: And Malr1ne would’ve just kept fumbling around at Nemiga.
Ahilles: I think his pre-Dota English is more than enough just to communicate.
dyrachyo: I’m serious: if Danil had joined the team, he would’ve played like a pro.
gpk: I played for EG as a stand-in for a bit. It was fine.
gpk played for Evil Geniuses from August to September 2020, replacing Abed in the OMEGA League: Europe Immortal Division. Alongside Arteezy, RAMZES, Cr1t-, and Fly, he played seven series and finished in 5th–6th place.
