kaffs announced that he will no longer coach Dota 2 teams from South America
Former LGD Gaming coach Igor “kaffs” Furtado stated on his personal X page that he will not be coaching in the South American region during the new Dota 2 season.
I won’t be coaching in South America this season. In a way, this is a consequence of everything that’s happened and the current state of the region, but to a greater extent, it has to do with me rather than the circumstances.
My teams have dominated the South American region over the past four seasons. We competed in most tournaments and qualified for the EWC/TI in 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026. Despite a great deal of instability, we showed the whole world what South America is capable of, and I truly believe we were just a small step away from achieving success.
Now it’s time for a new challenge. Not because South America isn’t capable of success, but because I myself truly need new experiences and opportunities. I believe this is necessary for me to become a better coach and the best version of myself.
I’m grateful to everyone who has walked this path with me, and I also want to thank the fans in South America for always believing in me. I hope that at least some of you will continue to root for me in my new venture.
