Korb3n commented on the number of teams in the Tier 1 scene in Dota 2

Team Spirit manager Dmitry “Korb3n” Belov spoke during a live stream on Twitch about the large number of Tier 1 teams on the Dota 2 pro scene. A clip from the stream was posted on the LEGENDWP YouTube channel.

There used to be fewer Tier 1 teams than there are now. Right now, there are way too many teams. Well, obviously there are fewer tourists than in CS2. Plus, the only teams that are disappearing are the ones that used to dump the market in order to acquire certain players. They dumped the market with money, so obviously it works great in the short term, but in the long run it’s tough—because as soon as a team isn’t winning everything or something like that, it becomes hard to keep paying overpriced salaries. There’s your answer. In other words, the teams that didn’t dump the market in the first place and didn’t pay inflated salaries are all still around, doing just fine, and having a blast. No, not just Team Falcons—but why should I throw stones? I’m just stating the facts. And stones, schmstones—I couldn’t care less.

Earlier, Denis Teplov, product director at “Liga Stavok,” expressed doubt about esports’ prospects of competing in popularity with traditional sports, while Team Spirit manager Dmitry “Korb3n” Belov challenged his arguments and his comparison of the esports audience to those of soccer and hockey.
