Esports event host Jake “SirActionSlacks” Kanner attended the Thunderpick World Championship 2026—a Counter-Strike 2 tournament held in Malta. Kanner posted several interviews with pro players in which he discussed Dota 2 with them.
Team Falcons sniper Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov admitted that he still plays Valve’s MOBA from time to time:
SirActionSlacks: Do you still play Dota?
m0NESY: A little.
SirActionSlacks: Who’s your favorite hero?
m0NESY: Kunkka.
SirActionSlacks: Do you have anything to say to the Dota community?
m0NESY: It’s a legendary game, guys. Keep playing Dota.
Aurora Gaming rifler Jimmy “Jimpphat” Salo noted that he doesn’t have as much presence as OG midlaner Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen:
SirActionSlacks: We have Finns in Dota, too, and they’re very unflappable.
Jimpphat: I’m not like Topson.
SirActionSlacks: No?
Jimpphat: He has too much presence.
FURIA rifler Marek “YEKINDAR” Galinskis stated that many Kaesers play Dota 2 and also named his favorite hero:
SirActionSlacks: Who’s your favorite hero?
YEKINDAR: I play mid. Lately, I’ve been liking Lina—she’s really strong. I have 5,000 MMR, so Lina is a great hero for farming MMR in solo queue.
SirActionSlacks: You can’t say “champion,” bro. They’ll ban us. You have to say “hero.”
YEKINDAR: Oh my god. “Champion” is from League of Legends, right?
SirActionSlacks: You have to admit that the best Dota players are also the best CS players, you know?
YEKINDAR: Actually, that’s true. I think a lot of Dota players play CS. And vice versa. But I haven’t really come across any CS players who play League, for example.
SirActionSlacks: Well, of course! They’re smart, so…
YEKINDAR: So it looks like Dota wins again.
FURIA captain Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo mentioned that he plays alongside YEKINDAR and also addressed the South American Dota community:
SirActionSlacks: I’ve heard you’re the greatest player in the history of South American CS. This is my first CS tournament, but more importantly, I’ve heard you’re here representing Dota. Is that true?
FalleN: I’ve played a lot of Dota. Ever since the Garena days.
SirActionSlacks: Back in the Garena days? Holy crap! Okay, what’s your MMR now?
FalleN: 4,600, I think.
SirActionSlacks: You’re better than me, bro. I’m at 5,800.
FalleN: Wow. No, I’m at 4,600.
SirActionSlacks: Oh, I thought I heard you say “six.”
FalleN: I’ll get there after I retire, don’t worry.
SirActionSlacks: We’ll forget about you. Will you still play Dota after you retire?
FalleN: Marek and I played yesterday. I was teaching him.
SirActionSlacks: He said he played Lina. What position do you play?
FalleN: I play supports: Shadow Demon, Invoker, Oracle.
SirActionSlacks: Well, you’re a legend! My respects. How old are you?
FalleN: 35.
SirActionSlacks: Our pro players are the same age! Wrap up your CS career and join us, bro. Let’s go to The International!
FalleN: Yeah, bro.
SirActionSlacks: Definitely. Well, it’s a great honor for me. Can you say a few words to the South American Dota community? They’re going through tough times right now—they need some motivation. You’re the god of South American CS. What would you say to them?
FalleN: Dota guys, come on—we need more of our own at The International! Brazilian teams have already proven themselves time and again, but we can go even further. I believe in you. Let’s put our egos aside, put together strong teams, and start winning. Let’s go!
Earlier, SirActionSlacks called CS2 “a game for idiots”: “It took me 10 minutes to figure it out. I’m not an idiot—I don’t play VALORANT, after all.” He also suggested that the developers make Dota 2 “dumber.”
