Rupido on competing at the Esports Nations Cup 2026: “This is actually one of my dreams.”

Glenard Ley “Rupido” K., a player on the Philippine national team and offlaner for Yangon Galacticos. Rugay gave an interview after winning the Esports Nations Cup 2026 qualifier, in which he shared his emotions about the final match, discussed his form, and explained what it means to him to play for his country.
On the match against Thailand in the upper bracket final
Right now, I’m really happy that we’ll be representing the Philippines at the upcoming Esports Nations Cup, and, you know, it still feels like I’m in the game—it’s as if it hasn’t ended yet for me...
I think we actually performed pretty well. In most matches, we were just building up our confidence because we hadn’t even played together before. The main reason for all of this is that we agreed on most of the calls—where to move and why.
On my form
I’m definitely still a long way from the very best, at least from the top-tier offlaners. But I can say that I’m improving. I can see it myself.
On representing the Philippines
Yes, this has actually been one of my dreams ever since I first started my career as a pro player. By the way, I already represented the country last time, in 2021, but back then we lost to the Thai team. So it was really nice to beat them this time.
The Philippine national team defeated Thailand 2–0 in the upper bracket of the Esports Nations Cup 2026 qualifiers for EastAsia and secured a spot in the World Championship in Saudi Arabia, which will take place from November 2 to 8.
