SaintDeLucaz on the end of his career: “I’ve completely stopped playing Dota seriously and am focusing on business.”

Team Rey’s Mobile Legends: Bang Bang coach and former Dota 2 pro player Doli Van “SaintDeLucaz” Pelo Sihotang explained on the Dejet YouTube channel why he switched disciplines.
On being kicked from BOOM Esports in 2018
I felt back then that the meta might have required a lot of farming. And that’s exactly when my mechanical skill dropped off significantly. I was also under a lot of stress: I think a new coach had joined the team around that time.
At that point, I was experiencing severe burnout. Even before I was kicked, I’d told the manager that I wanted to leave. In the end, I was kicked, even though I was already planning to leave anyway. I tried to keep going—owljan was cheering me on—and then—bam—I was kicked. Wow, that’s how it goes.
But if you think about it, the reason was the meta, which made me look weaker, plus burnout and accumulated fatigue. Apparently, I really wasn’t playing well back then, and Mikoto came in as my replacement—he was much better.
On Leaving Dota
Anyway, after that came the RRQ streak, and I completely stopped playing Dota seriously and focused on business. I opened a tailor shop and ran it for a few months—maybe half a year—but I found it very difficult to move forward. Around that time, I started trying out other games.
Doli “SaintDeLucaz” Pelo Sihotang competed on the professional scene from 2017 to 2019 and earned approximately $13,344 in prize money during that time. Alongside him, BOOM Esports took 2nd place at the 2018 Asia Pacific Predator League.
