GamerLegion support player Paul “Speeed” Bochichio discussed the advantages of playing Techies in the support role in Patch 7.41f. The video was posted on the esports player’s personal YouTube channel.
This hero has been performing incredibly well on the pro scene and has become very popular in my pub games. I tried to pick him three times in a row in my games, and he was banned every single time because the enemy team was also picking him.
His win rate is 52% in the fourth position and 51% in the fifth. Yes, he’s not the Enigma from the previous patch with a 60% win rate, but this hero is also very good.
This hero isn’t actually that strong in the lane. I think his advantage in the lane is his ability to avoid feeding and maintain a stable presence with good net worth.
I don’t like it when people rush Blast Off! right away—I think that ability is weak at level one. I’ve watched a lot of Techie replays—probably four over the last week—and every time I’ve seen this ability at level one, the hero gets wiped out. I choose Reactive Tazer. It lets you apply disability multiple times with a single use. Sticky Bomb can also be used for trading and map control, and, most importantly, it doesn’t force you to feed either.
You only need Tranquil Boots because you’re killing yourself with Blast Off!, so you need to regenerate health. In the past, everyone used items like Kaya and Aether Lens, and those are solid choices. But now, players are more likely to use Consecrated Wraps and Lotus Orb.
Earlier, Kirill “Hellscream” Lagutik recommended what he considers to be the best heroes for the fourth and fifth positions, sharing his hero pool.
