Team Yandex carry Alimzhan “watson” Islambekov commented on the BLAST SLAM VIII upper bracket final against Team Spirit on the team’s Telegram channel and speculated on who his team’s opponent would be in the grand final.
On the match against Team Spirit
We just had two good games—we had a better draft than they did, so it was easier to play. That’s all. We moved well and played well. My combos weren’t quite on point, but I was still killing even without them. (On the second map, watson played Windranger).
On the upcoming opponent
It’ll be either PARIVISION or Team Spirit. Probably PARIVISION—they’re tougher to beat. Although, maybe Team Spirit will prepare better. I definitely don’t think it’ll be Aurora Gaming.
Right now, PARIVISION and Aurora Gaming are playing a match for a chance to advance to the BLAST SLAM VIII lower bracket final, where Team Spirit awaits the winner.
The BLAST SLAM VIII playoffs are taking place October 8–11 in Malta. The tournament’s prize pool is $750,000, of which $200,000 is reserved for the teams.
