Seasons are one of Fortnite’s main features. The game changes every few months: new locations, weapons, mechanics, and characters are introduced. That’s why players often wonder what season Fortnite is currently in, when the next one will be released, and what’s been added to it.

If you’ve just started playing, the season system might seem confusing. Let’s break down what seasons in Fortnite are and why they exist. 

A season is a major game update that comes out every 10–12 weeks. Each season transforms the game world: developers add new items, events, and characters, and sometimes completely redesign the map.

Each season has its own theme. For example, the game has already featured seasons based on superheroes, mythology, Japanese culture, and post-apocalyptic themes. Thanks to this, Fortnite is constantly evolving and never gets boring for players.

Seasons help keep the game fresh. With each new season, weapon balance is adjusted, and new mechanics and challenges are introduced. Players have to re-learn the map and adapt their usual tactics.

Another important part of the season is the Battle Pass. By completing challenges, players level up and unlock rewards: skins, emotes, pickaxes, and other cosmetic items. Most of these can only be obtained during the current season.

It’s currently the “Runners” season—Chapter 7, Season 3 (or Season 41, if counting sequentially). It will run from June 6 to August 19, 2026. The season’s main theme is fast travel and collecting mysterious spirit creatures. You can track the season’s duration on the Battle Pass page—it always shows how much time is left.

The “Runners” season will allow players to unlock a cartoon-style John Wick skin at level 85, as well as skins for the Guardian, Kryxton, Wolf, Dylan, and Commander Sloane. Players who don’t manage to complete the Battle Pass can only guess which skins from this season will appear in the store at a later date.
