Stone Beasts Sit Like Ghosts—a continuation of the side quest chain “The Palace or the Royal Tomb” in Genshin Impact. In this quest, Travelers explore the White King’s Palace and learn more about the origins of the Eye of Gray. In this guide, we’ll explain how to solve the puzzles involving statues, freezing, blocked pipes, and other walkthrough details.
First, you need to reach Adventure Rank 18 or higher and complete the first story quest, “Snowflake Shot,” in the Land of Silence. After that, complete the preceding quest—“Gazing at the Pale Crown, Plunged into Sleep.”
Upon arriving on the other side, the gameplay will switch to a shooter with the Traveler as the main character. Climb the steps, defeat the enemies, and destroy the icy structure blocking the way to the courtyard.

Open the palace gates and proceed inside. To solve the first puzzle, open the construction menu with the T key and dismantle the cube blocking the chimera’s path to its rightful place.

Inside the hall, there will be a huge chandelier that you can switch between heat and cold modes using your ammunition: ice rounds from a standard rifle and Pyro rounds from a flamethrower activate the corresponding heating modes. Shoot directly at the chandelier; the first defrosting will awaken the monsters inhabiting the palace. Remember that you can trigger elemental reactions with your weapons: Cryo + Pyro, Pyro + Electro, and Star Conduit. As in the main game, these reactions deal increased damage.

After your victory, watch the cutscene and pick up the scope for your firearm right next to the throne.

After defrosting the area to the left of the throne, a passage to the first puzzle with the statue will open. Swim to the chest and the Cryo Orb, then head upstairs.

In the next room, you’ll need to freeze the ice—you can do this by firing your Cryo weapon at the chandelier in the main hall.

Build a star platform to jump up and climb to the top to push the statue.

When the statue falls, stand behind it (or to the side) and push it toward the hole in the floor. Limit the statue’s movement by building simple cubes. Don’t forget to dismantle them if you run out of Eternal Ice.

Place another ice cube near the platform where the statue should stop, and push it into position.

Then climb back up the stairs you took while following the statue, until you reach the edge of the platform in the main hall. You can also get there using the grappling hook directly from the main hall. Turn on the defrosting mechanism and activate the switch to raise the floor and open a passage to the room where the second statue is located.

Freeze the room again. Kill the enemies, push the statue onto the platform, return, and unfreeze the room so the water current lifts the statue upward.

Go back and freeze the room again. After that, use the cubes to push the statue to the hole in the floor, and from there—to the main hall. Don’t forget to place a cube where it stops so it doesn’t roll away.

Watch the cutscene revealing the Beast’s origin, then continue on. To climb up, use the grappling hook and the lift.

Fight the monsters. They are vulnerable to reactions you can trigger with your weapons: Melt, Star Conductor, and Overload. This will allow you to deal more damage.

Near the large rotating tower, create a heat source to melt the ice. Shoot the chandelier to turn on the heating. The bar should turn orange.

On the other side, you’ll first need to repair the pipes so they don’t leak. Open the building menu and select a cube. Then you’ll be able to retrieve the chest and activate the switch.

Go upstairs to the next puzzle with the chimera statue. A block of ice is blocking its path. Use the switch to rotate the central tower with the chandelier so that the pipes connect to your location, as shown in the screenshot. Then turn on the defrost function and wait for the block to melt. After that, freeze it again and push the chimera to its place.

At the top, a battle with the Beast boss awaits. He’s also vulnerable to reactions you can trigger with your weapons. You need to reduce his health to about half so he’ll open the passage to the top.

Climb up and finish off the Beast. Before he dies, he’ll recall who the Eye of Grai was in life, but the full mystery of his origins won’t be revealed just yet.

After that, a new level in Tyre will unlock, and you’ll be able to retrieve a fragment of the Eye of Grai. Head up to the Abode of Silence and watch another cutscene.

This concludes the “Palace or Royal Tomb” quest chain. You’ll need to complete two more quest chains to uncover the mystery of the Eye of Gray’s identity.
