A Reddit user analyzed over 13,000 smoke grenades on Mirage in professional CS2 matches
A Reddit user with the username cs2shadowpro posted statistics on the platform regarding the use of smoke grenades on one of the most popular maps in the competitive scene.
The author compiled the data based on 106 Tier 1 matches recorded on HLTV over the past two months. A total of 13,560 smoke grenades were included in his final sample, which were broken down by attacking and defending teams.
According to the data, the T-side deployed 7,645 smoke grenades. The most popular spot for blocking visibility turned out to be the “window”—2,600 smoke grenades were thrown there, accounting for 34% of the terrorists’ total smoke grenade deployments. In second place was the “A-Plant” with 1,195 smoke grenades, and rounding out the top three was the “Top Mid” position, where the attacking players deployed 792 smoke grenades.
For their part, the defense team used 5,915 smoke grenades. The “Palace” position emerged as the clear leader for the counter-terrorists, having been covered 1,769 times—equivalent to 30% of all smoke grenades used by the defense. The center of the map secured second place in popularity with 1,244 smoke grenades, while the “apartments” at Site B ranked third, with 1,088 smoke grenades deployed there.
Earlier, another Reddit user going by the handle chazeftw presented a detailed analysis of the competitive map pool for the IEM Cologne Major 2026. The enthusiast compiled detailed information on every C4 plant at the championship, highlighting key aspects of map usage.
