On September 30, the “Gloomy Onslaught” event returned in Genshin Impact. In Version 7.1, the enemies are the Veteran House Spirit: Wind Axe, the Mysterious Spring Automaton: Devastating Weapon, and the Crushing Blizzard: Melody of Strings. Let’s break down how to interrupt their special attacks, lower their resistance, and break their defenses.

For this battle, you’ll need Anemo characters and Starfall reaction characters. The main objective is to prevent the enemy from creating Big-Mouthed Glaciers and to use his sculptures to lower his resistance.
At the start of the battle, the Sculpting Sprite uses Anemo power to carve a sculpture out of eternal ice. If the process isn’t stopped, it will transform into a Big-Mouthed Ice Giant and begin firing snowballs continuously.
Apply the “Radiance: Starlight” effect to the opponent while they are creating the sculpture. This will interrupt the process, and a harmless animal figurine will appear instead of the Big-Mouthed Glacier.
Fluctuations in the Earth’s Arteries increase the boss’s base resistance to all elements and physical resistance. Additionally, he creates sculptures from eternal ice more frequently.
The figures transformed into animals soon explode. The explosion deals damage to the enemy, reduces its resistance to all elements and physical resistance, and further reduces its Anemo resistance. This effect stacks up to three times.
To weaken the House Spirit Sculptor, interrupt its sculpture creation with the “Radiance: Starlight” effect. After the figures explode, Anemo attacks become particularly effective due to the additional reduction in resistance.
Include Odette or a Cryo Traveler in your party to trigger the Starlight reactions. You can also assemble a team of older characters if you’ve completed their quests—such as Rizli, Saino, Bai Dou, and so on. These characters are most effective against the Homunculus thanks to their buffs. Alternatively, you can try other Anemo, Cryo, and Electro characters alongside Odette and Cryo GG.
At the fifth difficulty level, experimentation with teams is very limited.

Cryo characters are recommended for this boss. Cryo damage can interrupt his attacks and significantly weaken his defense.
The automaton activates sweep mode immediately after the battle begins. In this state, its resistance to all elements and physical damage is significantly increased. During attacks, it accumulates flow momentum: the higher the momentum, the faster the enemy spins and the greater its damage.
Cryo damage reduces Flow Momentum. When this value drops below a certain threshold, the Automaton stops spinning and attacking. At the same time, its resistance to all elements and physical resistance decrease, and its Cryo resistance is further reduced.
Upon its first stop in each clear mode, the enemy also drops additional elemental orbs. Use Cryo attacks to stop the automaton, then deal primary damage to the weakened target.
If the active character maintains the Night Spirit’s Blessing status for a certain amount of time, the automaton enters Forced Counterattack Mode. It begins firing powerful homing beams, but its resistance to all elements and physical resistance are significantly reduced.
Several attacks dealing Cryo damage will immobilize the enemy and further reduce its elemental and physical resistance. Therefore, Cryo attacks will also be useful when using this strategy.
Freeze and mono-Cryo are the best options for clearing this stage. On the fifth difficulty level, it won’t be easy without a Cryo damage dealer; in all other cases, you can try using a Driver.

Pyro characters and Starburst reaction characters are recommended for this battle. The main mechanic is destroying the icy coffin, which protects the opponent and allows her to regenerate HP.
When Blasting Blizzard’s HP drops below a certain threshold, she seals herself inside an icy coffin with a Cryo barrier. While the protection is active, an icy storm rages continuously around the opponent.
If the ice coffin is not destroyed, Blasting Blizzard will restore some HP and counterattack with an ice blade. Successfully destroying it, on the other hand, will deal reflected damage to her and briefly weaken her.
Fluctuations in the Earth’s veins increase the ice coffin’s durability. Additionally, some time after it is first destroyed, the opponent will recreate it. Make sure you’re ready to quickly break through her defense for the next phase as well.
While the Ice Coffin is active, apply the Radiance: Stardust effect to Blasting Blizzard. Under its influence, the Cryo Barrier will transform into a damage-absorbing shield.
Destroying this shield will deal high recoil damage to the opponent. Therefore, when using characters with the “Starlight” reaction, first activate the desired effect, then focus your attacks on the shield.
On difficulty level 5, if you’re running through Pyro instead of Starlight, you’ll need an incredible amount of status effects. Blasting Blizzard creates a shield twice, so try to save your ultimates until she closes in with her shield.
