Ranks in Marvel Rivals: All Leagues and How the Ranking System Works
In Marvel Rivals’ competitive mode, players are assigned a rating and gradually climb the ranks. Wins improve your position in the standings, while losses set back your progress. In this guide, we’ll explain the different ranks in Marvel Rivals, how the ranking system works, and what it takes to advance to higher leagues.
All Ranks in Marvel Rivals
There are 9 ranks in Marvel Rivals. Most of them are divided into three divisions—from III to I. The only exceptions are the last two ranks.

According to official developer reports, a significant number of players are ranked from Bronze to Diamond. 11.2% of players reach Grandmaster, 2.8% reach Celestial, and the top 0.3% are One Above All players.
How the Ranking System Works in Marvel Rivals
Players earn ranking points for wins in competitive matches and lose them for losses. To advance to the next division, you must earn 100 points. The higher the rank, the tougher the opponents become, and the more important individual skill and teamwork are.
The game features a special “chronoschild”—a mechanism that prevents players from dropping too far in rank after a losing streak. It prevents your rank from dropping after a loss, but it can only be used once.
At ranks of Diamond and above, hero bans are added to matchmaking. This allows you to ban meta heroes and counters to your character, helping you develop more strategies for the game.
At the end of the season, your rating is reset. You’ll start seven divisions below your current rank—meaning Diamond 1 players start the season in Gold 2, Platinum 2 players start in Silver, and so on. If your rank is lower than Gold 2 at the end of the month, you’ll have to start the season in Bronze 3, which is a tough place to climb out of.
How to Unlock Competitive Mode
Competitive mode unlocks once your account reaches Level 15. After that, the Competitive tab becomes available, where you can start climbing the ranks and earning seasonal rewards for your rank.
Your account level increases as you earn experience (XP). The main way to earn XP is simply by playing matches in any mode. You also earn XP by completing daily and weekly challenges. The more XP you accumulate, the faster your account level rises and the more new features become available.
How to Climb the Ranks Quickly
Ranking up quickly in Marvel Rivals depends not only on the number of matches played, but also on consistent wins. To win more often and climb the ladder faster, it’s best to maintain consistency:
- master 2–3 characters instead of constantly switching heroes;
- play in a team with friends, if possible;
- choose heroes that complement your team’s composition, not just your favorites;
- communicate with your allies and use voice or text chat to coordinate;
- play in batches while you’re still focused, and take a break after a few consecutive losses.
It’s also worth remembering that the game takes into account not only wins and losses, but also individual performance. Good stats, winning streaks, and MVP titles earn you more rating points in the lower and mid-tier ranks.
