Decay Molecules in Marvel Rivals: What They’re For and How to Get Them

Decay Molecules are the in-game currency in Marvel Rivals used to unlock exclusive costume color variants. Here’s what Decay Molecules are for, where to get them, and what you can spend them on.
What Are Decay Molecules Used For in Marvel Rivals
Decay Molecules are a special currency used to purchase additional cosmetic upgrades, specifically new color variants. With them, you can unlock alternative chrome color schemes for certain costumes, as well as unique visual effects for ultimate abilities.
It’s important to note that Decay Molecules do not replace the purchase of the skin itself. You must first obtain the base costume, and only then can you unlock new colors or effects for it using this currency.
Initially, Decay Molecules were only a microtransaction currency, but over time, the developers added ways to earn them without spending real money.
How to Get Decay Molecules in Marvel Rivals

You can get Decay Molecules for free, although the main way to obtain them is by purchasing them with the premium currency Lattice. The developers also periodically include them in event rewards and progression systems.
For free:
- Level up your heroes’ mastery—by playing as a single character. Completing their trials and reaching new levels periodically awards 100 Decay Molecules (for example, at Mastery Levels 13, 22, 32, 42, and 47);
- complete limited-time event quests if Decay Molecules are listed among the rewards;
- claim rewards from certain free event passes, where developers also sometimes include this currency.
Paid:
- Exchange the premium currency Lattice for Decay Molecules at a 1:1 rate;
- purchase a paid event pass or battle pass if its rewards include Lattice, which can then be exchanged for Decay Molecules.
The Mastery Level is a separate progression system for each hero. It increases through matches and by completing individual character challenges, such as dealing damage, using abilities, eliminating enemies, or healing allies, depending on the hero’s role.
In Russia, it’s not officially possible to make in-game purchases, but if you wish, you can use intermediaries on digital marketplaces. A purchase of Lattices costs approximately 70 rubles for 100 units. The cost of 600 coins—enough for 600 Decay Molecules for a single skin—is about 530 rubles. The more you buy at once, the better the deal—for example, the largest bundle of 11,680 Lattices costs about 8,000 rubles.
